Path to Membership
Thinking About Becoming a Member?
If you’re ready to deepen your connection and support the church’s mission by becoming a member, we welcome you whether you’ve been attending Wildflower for a few weeks or a few years. Read Membership Benefits & Responsibilities to find out more.
Church Mission
Wildflower Church is a deliberately inclusive, open-minded religious community in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. We joyfully nurture one another in our lifelong spiritual journeys, and we commit to transforming ourselves and the world around us through acts of compassion, love, and social justice.
Steps along the Path to Membership
The four steps along the path to membership are described below. You can take three of the steps in any order that’s convenient for you; however, before signing the Membership Book, you need to attend an orientation, participate in the life of the church, and make a pledge and an identifiable financial contribution.
1. Attend a Wildflower Orientation
Wildflower Orientations are designed for people who want to know more about the church and are considering membership. They are offered at least three times a year on Sundays after the worship service. Lunch and child care are provided. During the orientation you will have an opportunity to:
- Share your religious or spiritual journeys
- Learn more about Wildflower’s history, mission, and governance
- Learn how you can become more involved at Wildflower
- Expand your circle of friends at the church
- Meet the minister
2. Participate in the Life of the Church
To be truly healthy, our religious community needs committed members to implement its mission. We demonstrate our values by supporting the church and serving the larger community with our time, talents, and interests. Acts of caring are an essential part of belonging to this religious community.
3. Support the Church Financially
The church’s financial health depends on the generosity of its members. To indicate your commitment to Wildflower Church and its mission, please complete a Pledge Card and mail it to the church office or place it in the collection basket during the worship service. Because many people ask, “How much should I pledge,” we suggest you refer to the Fair Share Giving Guide.
4. Sign the Membership Book
You may sign the church’s lovely Membership Book after you have completed the above steps on the Path to Membership.
New Member Recognition Ceremony
After you have completed the steps to membership, you will be invited to participate in a New Member Recognition Ceremony. During the ceremony, offered at least three times each year, new members and congregants make a covenant with one another. To read the covenant, click on New Member and Congregation Covenant.
