Yes, definitely! Wildflower Church is a welcoming congregation.

What do Unitarian Universalists believe?

From the historical affirmation of the unity of God (Unitarian) to the universal salvation of all souls (Universalists), Unitarian Universalist beliefs have expanded to the broader concept of a unity in diversity which affirms the supreme worth of all persons, held together through love and a spark of divinity that resides in us all. Bound neither by creed nor dogma, our intentionally inclusive community honors and celebrates the right of individual thought, joins in shared concerns, and respects the ever-present need to deepen our understanding of the awe and wonder of life.

Unitarian Universalist congregations do not have a creed, but we affirm these seven principles:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

What happens during a typical worship service?

The worship service usually consists of traditional and contemporary music, singing, readings, a prayer with a short meditation period, and a sermon. After the service, most people stay for coffee and conversation during the Fellowship Hour. Please join us so we can meet you. Read more about what to expect during a typical worship service

What should I (and my children) wear to this church?

Wear whatever you feel like wearing. Most people wear "casual professional," ranging from blue jeans to suits. Children should dress comfortably so they can participate in art projects and outdoor activities.

What do children do during the worship service?

Childcare is offered during the service for children ages 1-5 years of age. Children 3-13 years of age stay with their parents during the first part of the service, then go to their own activities in their religious education classes. Our older children (11-15 years) meet with two adult advisors on Sunday Mornings for fellowship, leadership development, social action and active discussion.

If my child doesn't separate well, can she or he stay with me in the service?

YES! You may also remain in your child’s classroom if that works best. After a few times your child will probably be comfortable on his/her own.

How do I sign up to receive news and announcements?

When you arrive for a worship service, be sure to stop by the Visitor's Table in the foyer. A greeter will help you with a name tag and signing the guest list. If you provide your email address, we will send you Weekly News Announcements and Sunday Announcements so you can keep up with what is happening. We will also notify you when our monthly newsletter is posted to the website.
