Amy Young Memorial Service Trip

In the spring of 2008, a group of Wildflowers, accompanied by members of Live Oak UU Church, traveled to New Orleans to volunteer for a week of Hurricane Katrina recovery work. One of the Wildflower people on that trip was Amy Young, who had been attending Wildflower since the previous August. In the fall of 2009, just months after our trip to New Orleans, Amy died unexpectedly, at the age of 38. As a means of honoring Amy's spirit and her dedication to justice, Wildflower Church chose to name future such service trips after Amy. And so we traveled to Galveston, Texas in May 2009, with Amy in our hearts and minds, as we worked for a week doing Hurricane Ike recovery work. And in the spring of 2010, the Amy Young Memorial Service Trip will happen again. If you are interested in being a part of future trips, either as a traveling volunteer or on the Wildflower Church homefront, contact Rev. Galaher at
